This kit contains the following Ball Diff Bearings: 3/32″ Balls X 14 5/64″ Balls X 6 Available in Ceramic or Tungsten Carbide. Which type of ball suits which situation? Tungsten Carbide balls are more than 4 times heavier than Ceramic Balls. The 3/32″ ball diff bearings in Ceramic weigh 2.4gms each, Tungsten Carbide balls weigh 10.7gms. Testing by our team drivers has shown that on high grip tracks, on a tight diff setting, the ceramic balls have an advantage due to the lighter balls creating less rotating mass and allowing for faster acceleration. The downside when using Ceramic balls is when using a looser diff setting to suit a track with less grip, the ceramic balls suffer from ball skidding, commonly referred to as “Barking” which can prematurely wear the diff rings and balls, this does not occur with the heavier Tungsten balls. Therefore our recommendation is to use Tungsten balls on low grip surfaces and Ceramic balls on high grip surfaces. Which Cars does this kit suit?
