Note that these lever’s are made in different sizes for a few different brands and this is the version that suits Wilderness Systems Paddles This is the lever only. This does not include any other parts of the Joiner (including screws here) This lever is suitable as replacement for a broken lever (The bit that locks and unlocks your paddle shaft to allow for length, angle adjustment or dissassembly for transport and storage) for some of the wilderness systems paddles we stock. This lever may not suit paddles from other brands with different size shafts etc. These levers are labeled on the underside with TXL5 which refers to the size. SUP paddles fitted with leverlock also use a different system and this lever is not compatible with leverlock adjustable SUP or canoe paddles. Other kayak brands also use leverlock paddle clamps but the lever that locks may be a different size. Check that your Werner, Accent or other brand use the same lever (depends on shaft diameter). Single Lever only- no screws- typically you can reuse the screws though. Fix your 2-piece Leverlock® Adjustable Kayak paddle with a new lever. If your lever will not lock completely or is not functioning properly, you can replace the lever quickly and easily. To order lever size for your paddle, check the underside of the lever for an imprinted product code. How to replace Ways to Fix a Stuck Leverlock® Adjustable Paddle handle: DON’T: Use petroleum-based lubricants including WD-40 or sunscreen to resolve the sticking situation. If you have already, you need to replace rubber or it will grow larger and stick to the inside of shaft. DO: Try the following methods: #1: The Twist Method: Fix the blade end of the paddle securely and carefully in place (e.g. have friend hold onto the blade, stick it in between deck boards, secure in the hinge side of an open door, etc.). Open the lever and gently twist the handle back and forth until you can begin pulling upward. Be very careful with your blades especially composite (Carbon Fibre, Fibreglass etc) #2: The Wash Method: Make a solution of one pint of water mixed with one squirt of dishwashing soap (e.g. Dawn). Open the lever and pour the solution down the lever cavity. Gently twist the handle back and forth until you can begin pulling upward. #3: The Freeze Method: Wrap an ice pack around the section of the paddle shaft where the rubber plug end of Leverlock® Adjustable handle is stuck (about 22” down the shaft from the top of the handle if the handle is not extended). Keep the ice pack on the shaft for 10 minutes. Gently twist the handle back and forth until you can begin pulling upward. If the above methods don’t work, set the paddle upright and let sit in a cool environment. Repeat methods as directed. When the paddle is unstuck: Clean inside of paddle shaft and outside of Leverlock® Adjustable handle with warm soapy water or denatured alcohol. Inspect rubber and replace if showing signs of expansion or wear. Make sure to always rinse the LL unit after use, especially if you are storing it for a long period of time or you live in a marine environment. If in doubt, you can always store it with the lever open to make sure the rubber won’t stick to the inner shaft surface, or in 2 pieces for even more security.
